Zhuhai has raised the validity of the negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test (NAT) result for arrivals from Macau to 48 hours from just 24 hours.

According to a statement by the Zhuhai health authorities quoted by the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) last night, the measure takes effect at 6 a.m. today.

Before 6 a.m. today, i.e., since Zhuhai lifted its seven-day hotel quarantine for arrivals from Macau on August 3, those entering Zhuhai from Macau had had to present a NAT certificate confirming a negative COVID-19 result valid for just 24 hours – which had been in force until 6 a.m. today.

Zhuhai imposed its hotel quarantine requirement for arrivals from Macau after the detection of Macau’s latest COVID-19 outbreak that began on June 18. After the outbreak subsided in late July, Zhuhai lifted the quarantine for arrivals from Macau at 6 p.m. on August 3.

Last night’s statement said that the Zhuhai health authorities will “dynamically” adjust the NAT validity for arrivals from Macau in compliance with “the latest COVID-19 developments”.

The negative NAT result for those entering Macau from Zhuhai remains valid for 48 hours.
