An exhibition of 82 selected works from the Macau Museum of Art (MAM) that reflect different parts of Macau’s UNESCO World Heritage architecture are being displayed at the Palace Museum in Beijing for the first time until November 6, according to a recent statement from the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).

The statement noted that the Historic Centre of Macau was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005.

Titled “Centuries-Old Legacy: Macao’s Landscape and Architecture Paintings from the Macao Museum of Art”, the statement said that the exhibition, which is organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Palace Museum, was inaugurated and had its opening ceremony on Friday at the Palace Museum’s Hall for Abstinence. It was officiated by several guests, including Palace Museum Director Wang Xudong and IC President Leong Wai Man.

The statement pointed out that the exhibition focuses on paintings of Macau’s cityscape created by local and foreign painters between the 18th and the 21st centuries, “revealing the architectural essence and cultural significance of Macau’s World Heritage”. It comprises three sections: “Visitors from Afar”, “A Kaleidoscope” and “City of Glamour”.

Through various painting styles such as oil and ink paintings of Macau-themed images, the exhibition “connects the artistic footprints left by masters from different periods” in Macau, creating an “artistic travelogue” set amongst its historic buildings, the statement underlined.

More details about the exhibition and its opening hours can be found by visiting www.MAM.gov.mo or www.dpm.org.cn.
