A local man was arrested on September 14 for surreptitiously taking photos of a schoolgirl in uniform earlier that day in Taipa, after which police discovered 2,200 photos of other females on his mobile phone, Public Security Police (PSP) Lam Keong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect surnamed Sou, who is in his thirties, told the police that he works as a dealer in a casino. The victim is an underage secondary schoolgirl
According to Lam, a male employee working in a shop on Avenida de Kwong Tung in Taipa witnessed Sou taking pictures of the victim surreptitiously while she was passing by his shop. The employee stopped Sou immediately and reported the incident to the police. Officers arrived at the scene and took Sou to a police station where he admitted that he furtively took photos of the girl because he was attracted to her.
Lam said police later discovered about 2.200 photos and over 100 video clips of girls, mostly schoolgirls in uniform and females in skirts. However, no photos of girls’ private parts were found on the smartphone.
Lam said Sou told the police that he only kept the photos and videos for himself and that some of the photos were taken with the females’ consent.
Sou has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing illegal recordings and photography charges, according to Lam.
