The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that the Educational Student Tours, co-launched by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and MGTO in the government’s “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project, has restarted, pointing out that 70 local P6 students and staff participated in two itineraries themed “Loving the Motherland and Loving Macau” yesterday.

The statement underlined that there are a number of pre-set itineraries for schools to choose from. It added that the campaign will be extended until the end of the year, ensuring that more students will be able to study outside their school campus in a “relaxed and happy” atmosphere.

The statement noted that as of Wednesday, i.e. after the resumption of registrations for the Educational Student Tours on September 19, a total of 4,803 participants had confirmed their respective tour itineraries and dates.

After adjustment, the statement said, 11 routes, instead of the previously announced 10 routes, are now offered under eight themes, namely Ecotourism, Science Tour, World Heritage Tour, Chinese Culture Tour, Science Educational Tour, Practical Science and Technology Tour, Loving the Motherland and Loving Macau Tour, and the History Tour, adding that each tour lasts about five hours.

All secondary and primary schools, as well as special education students holding a Macau ID card, can participate in one tour free of charge. Each school can choose the itinerary suitable for their students.

The statement underlined that in line with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 prevention measures, participants must wear a facemask, undergo a temperature check, and show their Macau Health Code. The statement also underlined that those holding a yellow or red Macau Health Code are not allowed to join the tours.

The Educational Student Tours were first launched in June but suspended due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak which began on June 18.
