The Macau New Neighbourhood’s (MNN) 27 residential towers and school buildings are expected to be topped out by the end of the year, while its residential units will be put up for sale next year, Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) said in a statement yesterday.
Wikipedia defines topping out as a “a builders’ rite traditionally held when the last beam (or its equivalent) is placed atop a structure during its construction”.
According to the statement, MNN is an integrated community comprising residential and social services, among others. Its layout plan is designed to create “a living environment similar to Macau to facilitate Macau residents’ development in the Greater Bay Area (GBA)”.
According to the government-owned company’s statement, MNN’s construction began in 2021 and is in the phase of superstructure works and prefabricated components installation.
The statement noted that the first tower’s topping-out took place at the end of September, while the whole project is planned for completion in the second half of 2023. Further information on MNN’s layout plan and design can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFoALiglMlc
MNN is located “in the heart of the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin” along Gang’ao Avenue and is around a six-minute drive from the Macau-Hengqin border checkpoint, the statement said. It has an area of over 190,000 square metres and a total gross area of about 620,000 square metres, the statement noted.
The statement added that the 27 residential buildings have a height ranging from 19 to 26 floors,
With seven to eight units on a typical floor.
The statement noted that the project can provide around “4,000 residential units and over 200 housing units for talents”, while two-bedroom units account for 80 percent of the project and the remaining are three-bedroom units.
The term “talents” is customarily used by the local and mainland authorities to refer to qualified human resources.
The project features services connected to Macau and has a kindergarten (12 classes), a primary school (18 classes) and a health station, among others. The statement added that there will also be around 5,000 square metres of commercial space (about 60 shops) and 4,000 car parking spaces, as well as more than 3,000 square metres of children’s play facilities and sports venues.
It will be a “liveable” community of about 12,000 to 15,000 people, the statement underlined.
