Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau will present “Macanese Nights” at Café Bela Vista to pay homage to the Macanese culinary heritage, being slated to take place from every Tuesday to Thursday on October 18-20, October 25-27 and November 1-3.

Taking guests back centuries ago to explore the influences of what makes Macanese cuisine what it is today, the statement noted that the gastronomic journey is brought by the Café Bela Vista’s Chef de Cuisine Pedro do Carmo and well-known Macanese Chef Antonieta Fernandes Manhão (aka Chef Neta).

The statement quoted Chef Neta as saying that she was excited to work with Chef Pedro at Café Bela Vista to “honour the heritage of Macanese cuisine by reviving almost forgotten family recipes”. Chef Pedro, meanwhile, said that the Bela Vista is also glad to collaborate with Chef Neta and “get inspired by this authentic Macanese menu” that can only be experienced at Café Bela Vista.

The menu features Macanese dishes including African chicken, traditional minchi, Capela – an oven-baked meat loaf –  as well as tamarind pork cooked with a special shrimp paste called balichão, a shrimp paste prepared by the team and made with “very small shrimps, lemon, pepper, and cognac”, Chef Neta said in the statement.

Rutger Verschuren, area vice-president, Macau operations of Artyzen Hospitality Group and general manager of Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau, was also quoted in the statement as saying: ‘‘Macanese Cuisine is established as a treasure and cultural identity that reflects Macau’s history over hundreds of years. We are proud to present Macanese Nights, another unique culinary experience at Café Bela Vista after the success of Fado Nights last year.’

The statement said that a set menu for two is priced from 358 patacas. More details can be found at https://artyzen.grandlapa.com/macau-promotions/macanese-nights. For reservations, call 8793 3871 or 2856 7888.

Macanese cookery is a fusion cuisine dating back several centuries featuring Portuguese, Chinese, Malay, Indian and other Asian ingredients and recipes.
