Ho vows to unite Macau in implementing spirit of Party’s 20th National Congress

Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng said in a statement yesterday that the local government will “unite and lead” all sectors of Macau’s civil society to “earnestly study, understand and fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress” of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which began in Beijing yesterday morning. 

The statement released through the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) stressed that Ho and the other principal officials of the local government watched a live broadcast of the opening session of the congress where CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech. 

The statement quoted Ho as saying that Xi and the central authorities have always shown affection for Macau and cared about the well-being of local people.

Ho also pledged to fully implement the principles of “One Country, Two Systems” and “Patriots Governing Macau” and to resolutely safeguard the central government’s overall jurisdiction over the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR). 

The chief executive also promised that make will continue to contribute to the nation’s modernisation and rejuvenation process. 

Many local community associations also watched the opening session’s live broadcast by CCTV.
