A doorman was arrested for embezzling 51,774 patacas from the company he was working for, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chan Wun Man said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The 44-year-old suspect surnamed Jiang is a non-resident worker (NRW) from the mainland. He had been working at a residential building in San Kio district since May last year
According to Chan, a company staff member found in August that the company’s accounting records contained some irregularities, later discovering that Jiang had submitted 51,774 patacas less than usual in property management fees to the company. The staff member took Jiang to the Judiciary Police on Friday.
Under questioning, Jiang admitted embezzling the money and claimed that he had used the money to pay his seriously sick father’s medical bills. Chan said Jiang acknowledged that he had embezzled around 25,000 patacas and 26,000 patacas in October last year and May this year respectively.
Jiang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an embezzlement charge, Chan said.
