The opening ceremony for Oktoberfest Macau at MGM 2022 Party Night took place yesterday at the MGM Theater of MGM COTAI, kicking off with a traditional beer keg tapping ceremony by MGM China Holdings Limited Co-Chairperson and Executive Director Pansy Ho Chiu-king, as well as performances by bands and musicians.
The event was also attended by other officiating guests such as Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR Yang Hao and Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.
Ho said in her speech that “MGM has been hosting Oktoberfest Macau since 2009, which has received over 170,000 locals and tourists. As MGM’s signature annual brand event, Oktoberfest Macau at MGM 2022 Party Night demonstrates the synergy enlivened by gastronomy, creativity, culture and tourism”.
Ho also said that “MGM will continue to create more diverse entertainment experiences, in further empowering Macau’s reputation of ‘World Centre of Tourism and Leisure’ and ‘Creative City of Gastronomy.”
Themed “Cheers, Macau!”, this year’s Oktoberfest is held at the MGM Theater for the first time and utilises technology such as its large 4K LED screen. The line-up of bands includes award-winning Chinese rock band Tarzan Band, Chinese pop stars Liu Wenjun and Fu Xinyao, together with local bands Daze in White, Amulets, and Gimme 5.
The Oktoberfest is held from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. every night until October 30 at the MGM Theater in MGM COTAI. Family Day brunch sessions are also available on October 22, 23, 29 and 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission tickets are on sale at both MGM properties. For more details, visit https://www.mgm.mo/.
