Macau's gross gaming revenue (GGR) in October rose 31.6 percent month on month to 3.899 billion patacas (US$480 million), the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) announced today.

However, last month's GGR fell 10.7 percent year on year.

October's GGR was the highest since February this year. It was the third highest in the first 10 months.

GGR in the first 10 months amounted to 35.718 billion patacas, a year-on-year decline of 50.5 percent.

As of the end of the second quarter, Macau's six gaming operators owned a total of 37 casinos, comprising 20 owned by SJM, five by Sands, four each by Galaxy and Melco, and two each by Wynn and MGM.

The six current operators and a local company affiliated with Malaysia's Genting are currently bidding for the government's up to six gaming concessions to be granted for up to 10 years. The outcome of the tender is slated to be announced next month. The new concessions are slated to start in January.
