The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement that its subsistence team yesterday distributed free emergency food packs, or extra food packs with vegetables and frozen meat, to households in the locked-down buildings in Red Code Zones in preparation for the typhoon.

The gradual lockdown of a number of residential buildings began last Wednesday when the first case of the current COVID-19 was diagnosed.

Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 3 was in force when the statement was issued. The statement noted that the food packs, which can be stored, were distributed in case food cannot be delivered to the households while the typhoon affects Macau.

The statement added that the collection service for “daily necessities” delivered by friends and relatives of those in the locked-down buildings are suspended today.

The team, according to the statement, will monitor changes in the local weather, adding that households will be notified and updated through text messages and the news. The statement urged households to pay attention to them.

For urgent needs, the statement pointed out that the households can call the Civic Service Hotline on 2833 7676 or the Social Welfare Bureau’s (IAS) support hotline at 2826 1126.
