Arquiminio Rodrigues da Costa, Macau’s last Portuguese Roman-Catholic bishop, passed away in his native hamlet of Sao Mateus in Portugal on Monday, aged 92, the Catholic newswire Ecclesia reported yesterday.
According to the report, the bishop emeritus died in the hamlet on the island of Pico in Portugal’s Azores archipelago, where he was born on July 8, 1924.
His funeral on Pico is to take place today. No cause of death was given by the report.
