Power utility CEM said in a statement this week that it will participate in the 12th China (Macau) International Automobile Exposition, which will be held at the Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo Hall A, B and C from today to Sunday.

According to the statement, CEM will set up a booth (no. C010) to showcase two types of existing slow and quick electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities, with the EV charging method to also be demonstrated to enable members of the public to learn more about Macau’s charging network and development plan.

CEM’s booth themed “Powering Green Commute” adopts green as the main colour as it is a symbol of environmental protection, the statement noted. It is also paired with natural elements such as green plants, white clouds and Macau’s landmark buildings. Moreover, it also reflects the city’s energy saving concepts, environment protection and nature conservation, the statement added.

The two charging facilities to be exhibited support slow and fast charging modes, covering 7kW, 11kW and 22kW, which the statement said are suitable for various EV models with different charging power and plug types such as CCS2, CHAdeMo and Type2.

In accordance with the government’s green commute policy, the statement said that CEM has been enhancing the EV charging network to promote EV use in the city. The statement noted that CEM will increase public charging stations to 2,000 this year, “basically fully covering all public car parks in Macau”.

The mainland’s national charging system has also been introduced to make the charging facilities “more comprehensive”, the statement said. Moreover, CEM has enhanced software functions, noting that the CEM App has added real-time charging information, status prompts and an electronic wallet recharge function. EV owners, the statement added, only need to follow “CEM WeChat” and bind their CEM eService account to start charging without logging in each time.
