Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau said in a statement this week that it will be featured as an important set for the independent film “The Violin Case”, the first feature film directed by award-winning and up-and-coming local film maker, Max Bessmertny. The film is sponsored by the resort.

The film is produced by Tentonine Productions Limited, the statement noted, and is inspired by a true event that happened to his father local Russian painter Konstantin Bessmertny six years ago. It tells the story of a surreal one-night journey of a foreign painter in search of his lost artwork after he leaves it on the back seat of a taxi in Macau.

The film was in development for two years and spent a year in preparation. It highlights over 40 locations in Macau, according to the statement. The resort’s Amagao Art Gallery is set as “the crucial location for one of the main scenes”, while other scenes feature its NAAM Thai restaurant, Vasco Bar & Lounge and the presidential suite, the statement added.

Rutger Verschuren, Area Vice President, Macau Operations of Artyzen Hospitality Group and General Manager of Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau, was quoted by the statement as saying: “Artyzen is a hotel brand with passion for arts and culture, and we believe that movies are a wonderful way to showcase the heartbeat of Macau’s culture, reaching a captive audience of savvy and educated art-enthusiasts from across the globe.

He said that Artyzen hopes viewers will visit the city and the hotel for “a unique journey” upon the film’s release to the world.

The film’s release is slated for next year after entering film festivals and film markets worldwide in early 2023, the statement underlined.
