A 22-year-old local man, who had been in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient, yesterday tested positive for the novel coronavirus during medical observation, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre said in a statement.

This has raised the number of community cases detected since Monday to three. Two of the patients were diagnosed on Monday.

The statement noted that the case is related to the 21-year-old female university student whose case was announced on Monday.

The statement said that the man had two negative nucleic acid test (NAT) results on Monday morning and afternoon respectively.

As of yesterday afternoon, according to the statement, the man had not developed any COVID-19 symptoms. He was taken to the Health Bureau’s (SSM) Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane for isolation treatment.

On Monday, a man living in Macau but working in Zhuhai was also diagnosed with COVID-19.
