BANGKOK – President Xi Jinping said in Bankok yesterday that China welcomes Singapore’s deep participation in its efforts to build a new development pattern, and “high quality” should be the hallmark of China-Singapore cooperation.
Xi made the remarks when meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on the sidelines of the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting.
Noting that bilateral relationship is forward-looking, strategic and exemplary, he said the developments of China and Singapore depend on the region, integrate into the region and also benefit the region.
For his part, Lee said Singapore-China cooperation enjoys a strong momentum. Noting that China’s rise is unstoppable, he said that a strong and friendly China will bring positive influence to the region and the world, and will help small and medium-sized countries achieve common development.
Singapore has always viewed China’s development positively, and is ready to support and participate in the Global Development Initiative (GDI), he added. – Xinhua
