Tap Siac Craft Market kicks off

The opening ceremony for the Tap Siac Craft Market was held yesterday in Praça do Tap Seac, featuring over 100 original cultural and creative brand products, music performances and workshops, according to a statement from the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) yesterday.

Tap Siac is the bureau’s alternate spelling for Tap Seac.

The ceremony, according to the statement, was officiated over by the director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) ,Wan Sucheng, and Cultural Affairs Bureau Acting President Cheong Lai San, among others. Cantonese songs were performed by Hong Kong singer Rocky Chan Lok-kei.

The event will be held from Thursday through Sunday for two consecutive weeks, from yesterday through this Sunday and on November 24-27, the statement noted. It is open from 5p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The statement added that the market features 100 handicraft and creative gastronomy stalls. There will also be music performances from local and mainland singers in addition to creative handicraft workshops.

The statement said that the craft market has become “the largest exchange platform” in the city for displaying and selling cultural and creative products since its inception in 2008.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin are planning to hold the “Macao • Hengqin Craft Market” in Hengqin next month, with the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau set to organise local cultural and creative entities’ participation in the event to extend the craft market to the Greater Bay Area (GBA), according to the statement.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau follows and implements the Health Bureau’s (SSM) pandemic prevention measures, with requirements such as wearing a facemask and scanning the venue QR code and presenting a valid green Macau Health Code.
