The Sports Bureau (ID) said in a statement last night that the government respected the decision by Barry Bland, whose Motor Race Consultants company had co-ordinated the Macau Grand Prix since 1983 when Formula 3 was first included in the annual motor-racing event, to withdraw from the local organisation of the F3 race “with immediate effect”.
Earlier this year, the organisation work of the Macau Grand Prix for this year was transferred to the Sports Bureau from the now defunct Macau Grand Prix Committee.
Autosport, a UK weekly motorsport magazine, reported on Thursday last week that Barry Bland had made the “difficult” decision as the current situation was “unsatisfactory”.
