The Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC) said in a statement yesterday that its delegation visited the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on Monday.

According to the statement, the visit was “well received” by the bureau’s director, António Lei Chi Wai, and his team.

The statement noted that the MECC delegation comprised Board of Directors President Rui Pedro Cunha and representatives from the British Chamber of Commerce in Macao, France Macau Chamber of Commerce (FMCC), German-Macau Business Association, and the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC).

They visited the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone’s exhibition hall, which showed the zone’s transformation and development, the AHA HK & Macau Youth Incubation Centre and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macau, among others, the statement said.

A sharing session, according to the statement, was also held where Lei presented the “preferential schemes and benefits” designed for Macau entrepreneurs interested in starting their business in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

The statement added that Cunha gave a briefing on MECC’s background and recent activities with entities such as governmental departments, as well as about the “advantages and opportunities in doing business in Hengqin”, namely the free trade of products, free movement of personnel and access of the “international internet”.
