The Transport Bureau (DSAT) said in a statement yesterday that in order to further enhance driving safety, it has optimised the warning function installed in local taxis to remind drivers to pay close attention to their speed by adding audio announcements which will be broadcast regularly to prompt them to take heed of pedestrians and traffic safety.

According to the statement, the bureau will strengthen communication with the sector to enhance cabbies’ safety awareness.

The bureau urged motorists to observe Macau traffic rules and to drive with caution, so as to avoid any traffic accidents. Otherwise, the statement underlined, their driving licence and taxi driver’s licence could be revoked, while also facing criminal or civil liability.
