Two local men were arrested in Taipa on Tuesday for selling drugs, and police seized drugs with an estimated street value of 60,000 patacas, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said at a special press conference yesterday.
Ho said that the two 23-year-old male suspects, surnamed Kam and Tang, told the police that they’re jobless. Kam and Tang are friends
According to Ho, the Judiciary Police received a tip-off about two men selling drugs in Taipa. The police soon identified the suspects as Kam and Tang and arrested the duo when they were leaving the residential building where Kam lives.
PJ officers later found cannabis weighing 12.2 grammes in Kam’s pocket at the scene, 41.8 grammes in Kam’s flat and 6.3 grammes in Tang’s hotel room. The 60.3 grammes of cannabis have an estimated street value of 60,000 patacas, while some drug taking paraphernalia and drug-packaging items were also found in the flat.
Under questioning, the duo admitted taking and selling drugs they bought in the mainland for 100 yuan (112 patacas) per gramme and smuggling them to Macau. They said that they had been selling the cannabis for 700 patacas per gramme since last month and had made a profit of 10,000 patacas.
The duo were transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday. Both face charges of drug trafficking, drug possession and drug-taking paraphernalia charges, according to Ho.
