The eight-day 2022 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon Carnival kicked off yesterday in Broadway Food Street at Broadway Macau in Cotai, according to a statement yesterday from Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG).
The launch ceremony was held on the first floor of the Broadway Theatre, the statement noted. The carnival, which runs until December 4, features various elements such as food, leisure and entertainment, among others.
The carnival, the statement underlined, includes free game booths, marathon-themed photo corners, performances and lucky draws. Other attractions include a medal exhibition, marathon-themed souvenir crafting experience and retail outlets from local sports SMEs. GEG has also sponsored the “Most Creative Costume Award” and launched multiple marathon-special food and beverage promotions, the statement added.
Yesterday’s ceremony was attended by officiating guests such as Sports Bureau (ID) President Pun Weng Kun and GEG Corporate Office Senior Vice President Buddy Lam (林志成). The guests visited the bib collection point, the marathon medals exhibition and carnival booths.
The statement added that five local runners from different generations also attended the launch ceremony to share their marathon experiences and “pass on the spirit of sportsmanship”.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Sports Bureau (ID) reminded participants to pay attention to the COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures and the nucleic acid test (NAT) and rapid antigen test (RAT) requirements for the upcoming race event. The bib collection also started yesterday.
