The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) has issued a Yellow cold weather alert and noted on its website at the weekend that it is expected to be continuously cold in the next few days, with the minimum temperature expected to be 12°C or below, while the minimum temperature for next Sunday is forecast to be 7°C.

The statement urged members of the public, particularly seniors, children and people with chronic illnesses, to wear more clothes and stay warm. The bureau also suggested certain measures such as being fully aware of the great temperature differences during the day and at night, using heaters carefully and maintaining indoor ventilation, as well as consulting social welfare services if necessary.

The bureau also pointed out that cold weather could trigger hypothermia and respiratory or cardiovascular diseases, especially among vulnerable groups.
