A Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said during a regular press conference on Friday that a local man was arrested on Tuesday for damaging a car’s right hand wing mirror at Lok Kuan Building’s carpark in Coloane.

According to the spokesperson, the 46-year-old suspect, surnamed Wong, works as a driver.

The spokesperson said that the Public Security Police received a report about the case at the carpark of Lok Kuan Building at 8 a.m. on December 1, so PSP officers were dispatched to the scene. The spokesperson added that the owner of the damaged vehicle told the police that he parked his car at the carpark a few days ago and when he returned at 7:45 a.m. on that day he found that the car’s right hand wing mirror had been partially pulled off with its wires exposed.

After scrutinising CCTV footage of the carpark, PSP officers confirmed that at 10 p.m. on November 30, when a man passed by the victim’s car, it appeared that he hit the car’s right hand wing mirror with his arm. However, the man ignored the incident, got into a car, and drove away from the carpark, according to the spokesperson.

The Public Security Police identified Wong as the suspect and summoned him to a police station for questioning, the spokesperson noted, adding that Wong admitted that he had hit the car’s right hand wing mirror with his arm when he was in a hurry. Wong said he believed that it was just a common incident, so he ignored it.

Wong has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP), where he faces a charge of causing property damage.
