Two students from the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) competed at the 8th World Junior Wushu Championships (WJWC), which was held from December 2-10 in Indonesia, and won four medals, the public university said in a recent statement.

According to Wikipedia, Wushu or Kung fu is a “hard and soft and complete martial art, as well as a full-contact combat sport”.

Representing Macau, the statement noted that MPU students Wong Weng Ian and Kuong Chi Hin won a gold, a silver and two bronze medals.

Wong garnered a gold medal with the highest score of 9.169 in the Female Spear Event, which was the second gold for the Macau team in this championship, the statement said.

The statement added that Wong also won two bronzes at the Swords and Long Fist events, while Kuong Chi Hin won sliver for Macau in the Male Swords Event.

Both Wong and Kuong are currently taking their bachelor’s degrees in Physical Education at the university, which they also thanked for its support and help, as well as for the conditions it provided to achieve a balance in their training and studies.
