The Pharmaceutical Supervision and Administration Bureau (ISAF) said in a statement yesterday that from yesterday onwards, restrictions have been placed on the amount of some anti-pandemic drugs and supplies from local pharmacies that can be purchased by residents.
The statement said that the supply of COVID-19 rapid antigen tests (RAT) and single-formula painkillers and antipyretics (fever reducers) have been increased, while there is pressure on the supply of compound cold and flu medicines and cough medicines. Neighbouring areas are also experiencing a tight supply of these medicines, the statement said.
The statement said that its instructions on the drug types and quantities per person per purchase are as follows:
* One box or bottle of pain and fever relief medicine.
* One box or bottle of compound cold and flu medicine
* One box or bottle of cough medicine to relieve phlegm.
* 10 doses of COVID-19 rapid antigen tests (RAT).
According to the statement, in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic situation in Macau, the bureau has recently been in liaison with the Macau Pharmacies Association and other pharmaceutical associations, to ensure that importers will purchase additional drugs in different places in order to increase imports, and speed up the logistics and replenishment to pharmacies to maintain the supply of relevant drugs to meet shoppers’ demand.
The statement said that the bureau has issued guidelines to local pharmacies, reminding them not to raise prices arbitrarily when supplying anti-COVID-19 drugs and supplies, and instructing them to impose restrictions on the purchase of these products.
Residents who have questions about their medication can approach the pharmacists at local pharmacies, the statement said.
The bureau will continue to closely monitor the implementation of the restriction measures by pharmacies.
The public can contact the bureau on 85983522 during office hours or 85983504 with 24-hour telephone recording.
