In response to the needs of service users and the latest development of the government’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures, the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) said in a statement on Saturday that all the city’s government-subsidised nurseries, day-care services for senior citizens, respite care for the disabled and outbound and vocational rehabilitation facilities will resume operations from tomorrow.

The statement underlined that upon the resumption of operations of the IAS facilities, service users, staff members and other visitors will be required to undergo a temperature check upon entering the facilities and show a negative rapid antigen test (RAT) result valid within two hours. However, the statement added, if one is able to present a certificate of COVID-19 infection with his or her green Macau Health Code, he or she will be exempt from presenting a two-hour validity of the negative RAT result.

Subsidised nurseries, respite care for the disabled, activity rooms for outbound and vocational rehabilitation services, day-care centres for the elderly and vocational rehabilitation facilities for the disabled with a service capacity of 30 or less will be suspended for five days if over three COVID-19 cases are detected in one day, while facilities that serve more than 31 users will stop working when the number of COVID-19 positive cases detected in a day is equal to or greater than 10 percent of the total number of users served in the facility, according to the statement, which noted that COVID-19 infectees will be barred from returning to their facilities if the number of COVID-19 cases does not reach the respective levels.

During the five-day suspension period, in case of a need for the services, those who have received at least two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and are able to present a negative RAT result valid within two hours upon entering the facility, or have a COVID-19 infection certificate with their green Macau Health Code may request access to “friendly services”.
