The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement on Sunday that with the aim of enabling more residents and visitors to visit local neighbourhoods, while also injecting economic vitality into the areas at night and adding a festive atmosphere to the New Year and Lunar New Year holidays, parts of the installations of the “Light Up Macao 2022” will be retained through January 31.
The light installations in the Macau peninsula to be kept operating comprise the “Everything is Pixel” in the central area, on Calçada do Amparo, Pátio de Chôn Sau, Rua dos Ervanários and Rua de Nossa Senhora do Amparo, the “Museum of Art of Light” at Barra Pier, the “Embracing Nature” and “Macau Welcomes You” along the Nam Van Lake area, as well as the “Angel Wings” at the promenade between the Macau Cultural Centre and the Kun Iam Statue Waterfront Park Leisure Area in Nape, while the “Harp in the Moonlight” near the heart-shaped tree in the Macau Science Centre in Nape, which was originally an interactive game, has been replaced by light installations, according to the statement.
In the Taipa area, the statement pointed out, the respective “Winter Romance” and “Coloured Stained Glass” light installations at the Taipa Village Historical Centre Archway and Feira do Carmo area will continue to be displayed but without the projection of images on the ground, while the “Flower • Emoji” light installations at Coloane Pier have been moved to Feira do Carmo in Taipa.
The statement added that the city’s six gaming operators have also extended their respective illumination projects through January 31, complete with light installations and light shows on the exterior walls of their facilities and buildings located in the peninsula and in Cotai.
