Melco Resorts & Entertainment said in a statement on Wednesday that it took Christmas joy and warmth to the local community through its Simple Acts of Kindness 2.0 volunteering initiative.
According to the statement, in conjunction with its local community partners, around 220 Melco volunteer team members dedicated over 400 hours to over 540 children, youth and seniors in the past few weeks.
The statement noted that the Christmas-themed events included a Gingerbread Man pastry-making workshop with the Mong-Ha Children and Youth Home and lamp decoration workshops hosted at City of Dreams’ Kids’ City with beneficiaries from Centro de Serviços Integrados de Apoio à Família (“Family Support Integrated Service Centre”) — Fonte de Alegria e de Energia (“Source of Joy and Energy”), and the Macau Autism Association.
Moreover, the volunteer team also made its annual Christmas visit to Concórdia School for Special Education, and the primary section students of Escola de S. José Ka Ho were invited to attend a Christmas carnival event at Kids’ City. The statement added that “outstanding pupils” were also recognised at the carnival, where they received gifts of encouragement from their teachers and Melco Volunteers for their efforts and dedication in school.
Melco, the statement said, also worked with the Ilha Verde Neighbourhood Association and Chong Pak Centre to take its members on a trip to Studio City. The gaming resort operator organised singing competitions for the seniors, while its volunteer band also performed classic songs and eternal hits.
Members of the Iao Hon Community Centre, Family Support Complex and Seac Pai Van Community Centre were also invited for an afternoon tour of Studio City, with a ride on the property’s iconic Golden Reel topping the experience off, the statement noted.
