The four-day 2023 MGM Macao International Regatta concluded on Sunday, with the final races for the Macao Cup International Regatta (Beneteau First 40.7 unified design group) and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta (IRC group), the Sports Bureau (ID) said in a statement on that day.
According to the statement, the Big Boys Sailing Team, Zhongshan Sailing Team and LC Sailing Team were respectively named “overall champions” in the Macao Cup International Regatta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta and the International Catamaran Invitational (Hobie 16 unified design group).
The statement noted that the Big Boys Sailing Team won the overall champions title in the Macao Cup International Regatta, while ExeQute Racing won second place overall and Blue Water won third place. Meanwhile, in the Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta, Zhongshan Sailing Team won first place, followed by Guangzhou Nansha Sailing Team and Odyssey of the Sea Club.
In the International Catamaran Invitational, the statement noted that three rounds were held on Sunday, with Wan Ning Meng Zhi Team winning the first and third rounds in addition to the daily award. LC Sailing Team won the second race and secured the overall champions title over Windseekers and Cat Fever, the statement noted.
The statement added that the boats also took part in a fleet parade on Sunday morning, which started from the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf and ended at the Macao Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre. The organisers also arranged a string of ancillary activities for the event.
An award ceremony was held by the organisers at MGM MACAU after the races on the same day.
