An Indonesian woman was arrested on Tuesday night for selling cocaine and money laundering, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chan Wun Man said at a special press conference yesterday.

Chan identified the 42-year-old suspect as a hotel room attendant surnamed Diyanti. She had been working in the hotel for eight years.

According to Chan, the Judiciary Police were tipped off recently that a South Asian woman was selling drugs in Rua do Campo. PJ officers took action on Tuesday and intercepted the woman, Diyanti, walking around the neighbourhood at night.

The officers later seized 0.53 grammes of cocaine with a street value of 7,000 patacas from Diyanti’s home in the neighbourhood. They also discovered four unusual transactions involving 40,000 patacas in the suspect’s bank account.

Diyanti told the police that she had been selling drugs for two months and received 200 patacas for each deal, but she refused to reveal her supplier.

Diyanti was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday, facing charges of selling drugs and money laundering, according to Chan.
