The Fire Services Bureau (CB) said in a statement that a woman had attempted suicide by stabbing herself in the chest in a shop on Avenida de Demétrio Cinatti yesterday at 2 p.m.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene found that the victim, who had a knife protruding from the left side of her chest, was in a coma, the statement said, adding that they immediately rushed her to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for emergency treatment.
According to the statement, the victim is not an employee of the shop and no identification document was found on her.
The case has been transferred to the Judiciary Police (PJ), the statement said.
