Wynn Resorts said in a recent statement that Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace Cotai will be hosting a raft of Chinese New Year (CNY) events and dining experiences.
At Wynn Macau, the statement noted that award-winning singer-songwriter Eric Moo Chii Yuan, who is renowned for his romantic ballads, will present his “Eric Moo Year of Rabbit Chinese New Year Concert” at Wynn Macau on Monday, the second day of CNY. He will perform his classics “reminiscing about the past and celebrating the future”.
“Hip-Hop Bags Shop”, a popular comedy group in the mainland, will perform their “Chinese New Year Cross-talk Comedy Show” next Tuesday, the third day of CNY, at Wynn Macau in Nape and next Wednesday, the fourth day of CNY, at Wynn Palace in Cotai.
The comedy group aims to add today’s “hottest topics” to their show and “skilfully injects humour into their performances”, according to the statement.
Xiangsheng (相聲; literally translated: “face and voice”), also known as crosstalk, is a traditional performing art in Chinese comedy, and one of the most popular elements in Chinese culture.
The statement added that next Tuesday and Wednesday there will also be traditional dragon and lion dance performances, along with the letting off firecrackers, throughout the two resorts’ major areas.
Meanwhile, the statement said that four classic Chinese New Year Festival cakes are offered this year, including the savoury Turnip Cake and Taro Cake priced at 428 patacas per box and the sweet Coconut Cake and Water Chestnut Cake at 368 patacas per box. The boxes can be bought at Wing Lei at Wynn Macau or Sweets at Wynn Palace.
Wynn has created a festive red tote bag for the CNY cakes, the statement added.
Wynn’s signature restaurants in both properties will also present CNY delicacies. Michelin two-star Cantonese restaurant Wing Lei at Wynn Macau features festive highlights such as wok-fried prawns with dried shrimp, vegetables and ham.
The statement said that Wynn Macau’s Golden Flower restaurant will prepare a colourful geoduck, sliced taro and pepper dish, while Café Esplanada will present festive treats.
Geoduck is a species of very large saltwater clam.
The Michelin-starred and “Asia’s 50 Best” ranked Cantonese restaurant, Wing Lei Palace at Wynn Palace has auspicious dishes such as Golden-fried oyster with lace fat served with marinated tomato, the statement added.
Sweets also presents Mandarin, Yuzu, Praline & Chocolate Cake exquisitely decorated for the CNY.
Moreover, for the upcoming “Parade for Celebration of the Chinese New Year 2023”, Wynn has designed a “Rabbit Jumps for Joy” Lunar New Year float, and will also participate in the “Strolling through Almeida Ribeiro – Pilot Scheme for a Pedestrian Area” this Sunday and next Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
