The Sports Bureau (ID) said in a statement yesterday that a series of sports activities will be held during the Chinese New Year (CNY) with the aim of enriching the sports tourism experience in Macau.
According to the statement, two teams in the Guangdong Super League have been invited each to play a friendly match against a football team from the Hong Kong Premier League and one of the Macau’s football teams at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Taipa on February 5.
Free tickets will be distributed from 7 a.m. next Saturday at the Mong Ha Sports Centre, with a maximum of four tickets per person, the statement underlined.
ID President Pun Weng Kun, told a press conference at the bureau that the overall budget for the sports activities for the CNY is about 900,000 patacas.
Pun also said that his bureau will see more overseas teams or athletes participating in events this year.
In addition, the bureau will also hold a CNY cycling event in Cotai next Tuesday (the third day of the CNY), and a CNY Recreation and Sports carnival in Iao Hon Market Park on the same day.
Pun also said that the CNY Motorcycle Parade, which will be held next Sunday (January 29) at 2 p.m., will present residents with a motorbike parade starting and ending at Macau Science Centre Plaza, travelling through the peninsula, Taipa and Cotai, the statement said.
Co-organised by the Automobile General Association of Macao-China, the two-hour CNY Motorcycle Parade, will include a fleet of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. Motorcycles that participate in the parade will be displayed in the Plaza for the public to see, according to the press conference.
