A three-member household, including a four-year-old boy, died of carbon-monoxide poisoning at their home in Macau's city centre today, Chinese New Year's Eve, the Judiciary Police (PJ) has announced.
According to police and local media reports, the incident is believed to have been caused by a gas leak of the flat's water heater installed in the kitchen.
The three victims were found unconscious in the flat by the household's part-time domestic helper at around 13:30 p.m. The helper, who had the keys to the flat, found the 28-year-old woman lying on the floor of the bathroom, the 31-year-old man on the sofa in the living room and the boy on the floor near the main door. The helper phoned the mother of the woman, while a neighbour phoned the police. The reports said that the boy was the female's son, while the man and women were friends. The three victims were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
