Junk left on a balcony of a residential building on Rua do Canal Novo caught fire yesterday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement.
According to the statement, a doorman of the residential building informed the Fire Services Bureau (CB) that junk left on a balcony was on fire at 2 p.m.
The statement said that after firefighters put out the blaze, which they considered suspicious, they searched the burnt junk at the scene and found a few cigarette ends which could have been the cause of the fire. The case has been transferred to the arson section of the Judiciary Police.
No one was injured in the incident, and no one had reported property damage at the time of the statement last night.
