The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that during the Chinese New Year (CNY) Golden Week of January 21-27, the Macau Grand Prix Museum in Zape recorded 4,289 visitors, an increase of 235 percent over the same holiday period, some 83 percent of them non-local residents.
The statement added that the highest number of visitors to the museum during the Golden Week was recorded on the fourth and fifth days of the CNY last Wednesday and Thursday, with more than 800 visitors per day.
Applications for museum ticket cooperation programme starts today
Meanwhile, the statement said that with the aim of encouraging the local tourism sector to introduce new diversified tourism itineraries and products, the museum has launched a cooperation programme with the sector for Grand Prix Museum tickets, the application process of which will be open for travel agencies and hotel establishments today. Through the programme, the statement added, successful applicants will be able to receive ticket discounts.
The statement noted that the application period runs from 9 a.m. today to 5:30 p.m. on February 17, during which potential applicants can complete the application form together with the required documents and submit them to the museum by email, fax, post, or in person during office hours before the deadline. After verification, the statement added, an email will be sent by MGTO to the successful applicants informing them of the date of signing the cooperation agreement.
The statement underlined that successful applicants are required to fulfil certain obligations, including actively promoting and selling the museum tickets, and to designate a contact person to handle urgent matters and complaints referred by MGTO. At the same time, according to the statement, the ticket price for third-party sales should never be higher than the normal price charged by the museum.
