Macau’s 123 hotels recorded 5.1 million guests last year, a year-on-year drop of 22.8 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.
Mainland Chinese, whose number fell 28.1 percent to 3.8 million, accounted for three quarters of all hotel guests. The number of local staycationers rose 1.5 percent to 907,000. Staycationers accounted for nearly 18 percent of all hotel guests.
Guests’ length of stay remained unchanged at 1.8 nights.
Hotels’ average room occupancy rate dropped 11.7 percentage points to 38.4 percent.
