The total number of complaints about taxi drivers rose 20 percent in the first eight months year-on-year, with overcharging topping the list, according to data provided by the Transport Bureau (DSAT) to The Macau Post Daily yesterday.
Che Sai Wang, who heads the bureau’s Division of Transport Management, told reporters yesterday that passengers complained the most about taxi drivers overcharging, reaching over 400 complaints in the first eight months.
Che made the remarks at a press conference about a taxi driver safety programme it has organised with the Public Security Police (PSP) and two local taxi driver associations with the aim of strengthening cabbies’ safety awareness when driving, and also to improve the service they are providing.
