A local man has been arrested for damaging 12 parked motorcycles, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheuk Kou Chi said at a press conference yesterday.

The suspect surnamed Ao is a truck driver in his forties.

According to Cheuk, a man reported to the police on Sunday that his and his father’s motorcycles, as well as a dozen other motorcycles nearby were damaged, some of which had been pushed over in Avenida do Doutor Rodrigo Rodrigues. The victim told the police the repairs would cost about 10,000 patacas for his and his father’s motorcycles, while the police were still trying to contact the other victims at the time of the press conference.

The police identified the suspect, Ao, thanks to CCTV footage which showed that he repeatedly kicked the motorcycles on Saturday afternoon, and arrested him in the neighbourhood on Sunday afternoon.

According to Cheuk, Ao admitted to the crime and claimed that he was drunk at the time of the incident and was annoyed by the motorcycles which were illegally parked.

Ao has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP), facing property damage charges, according to Cheuk.
