A local man has been arrested for stealing a camera bag with a camera inside that he found in a taxi, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheuk Kou Chi said at a press conference yesterday.
Cheuk said that the 30-year-old suspect surnamed Ho is a clerk.
According to Cheuk, a man reported to the police recently that he had forgotten to take his camera bag containing a camera with him when he got out of a taxi at a hotel on the peninsula. He said that the camera bag, the camera and the other accessories inside are worth a total of 18,300 patacas.
Police officers later scrutinised the taxi’s CCTV footage and identified a passenger, Ho, who they assumed had lifted the camera bag from the cab.
Ho was called to a police station on Saturday, where he admitted to stealing the camera bag out of greed.
Ho has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing theft-by-finding charges, Cheuk said.
