The 2023 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide by Meituan, a mainland-based e-commerce platform for dining, has awarded a raft of restaurants run by SJM Resorts, Wynn Resorts, Sands Resorts Macao, and MGM MACAU.
The gaming resort operators issued separate statements on their respective awards yesterday.
The Black Pearl Restaurant Guide was launched in 2018 as a dining reference. This time, the guide awarded 304 restaurants in 28 cities worldwide, including 12 eateries in Macau – nearly 4 percent of the world’s total.
SJM earns most diamonds in Macau for 2nd consecutive year
SJM Resorts said in a statement yesterday that it earned the most diamonds in Macau for the second consecutive year, with three signature restaurants at Grand Lisboa collectively winning six diamonds between them.
Robuchon au Dôme was awarded three diamonds for the fifth consecutive year, The 8 earned two diamonds for two consecutive years, while The Kitchen earned one Diamond for the sixth year in a row.
SJM Managing Director Daisy Ho Chiu-fung was quoted in the statement as saying “This is an incredible honour which affirms our culinary philosophy of highest service standards and exceptional gastronomic experiences”.
3 Wynn Palace restaurants collectively win 5 diamonds
Meanwhile, three signature restaurants at Wynn Palace, namely Wing Lei Palace, Mizumi and SW Steakhouse, earned a total of five diamonds, according to a statement by the hotel-casino resort operator yesterday.
Wing Lei Palace has been awarded the two-diamond rating for the fifth consecutive year. Its executive chef, Tam Kwok Fung, also received the “Chef of the Year” award, being the first chef in Macau to earn the award from the guide.
Mizumi won a two-diamond rating for the second consecutive year, while SW Steakhouse received a one-diamond rating for the second year in a row.
La Chine and Zi Yat Heen receive diamond ratings
Recognised by the awards for the sixth consecutive year, The Parisian Macao’s La Chine was awarded two diamonds and Four Seasons Hotel Macao’s Zi Yat Heen earned one diamond, Sands Resorts Macao said in a statement yesterday.
Sands China Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage Operations Tom Connolly was quoted as saying: “We are truly honoured and delighted to have received diamond ratings again by the trusted Black Pearl Restaurant Guide.
He added, “This honour is a testament to our restaurants’ outstanding food, ambience and service, and it will inspire us to create even more unforgettable feasts”.
MGM MACAU’s Imperial Court awarded one-diamond rating
Imperial Court at MGM MACAU was awarded a one-diamond rating, being “a milestone for the restaurant’s inheritance and innovation of Lingnan cuisine in the Chinese dining landscape”, the gaming concessionaire’s statement noted.
MGM Food & Beverage Vice President Geoffrey Simmons was quoted as saying, “This recognition exemplifies MGM’s endeavour in enriching the local F&B scene, which motivates the team to continue delivering the best”.
