An exhibition titled White Shade – Exhibition of Works by artist Lai Sio Kit is being held at the H853 Art Space in the H853 Fun Factory of the Lisboeta Macau resort in Cotai, with the artist giving his take on nature through the artworks.
According to a statement from the gallery, Lai attempts to observe nature “from a wider perspective”. The statement added that the artist’s creative process has shifted to forests and running water, and his works aim to show an awe for nature and the yearning for tranquillity.
The artist’s brush strokes in his recent works, the statement noted, are “in between mountains and clouds”. The large brush strokes enable the paint to be repeatedly superimposed, turning into clouds and mist that flows on the mountains.
Lai has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He has had several solo exhibitions and is a member of the Chinese Artists Association. He is also the Macau Artist Society’s vice-director and director of the Macao Young Association as well as the Macau Art Master Association.
The exhibition runs through March 5. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily to free admission.
