A media launch event for The Macallan’s The Harmony Collection II was recently held at the L’ ATTITUDE in Morpheus Hotel at City of Dreams in Cotai, the highland single malt Scotch whisky maker said in a recent statement.

The statement noted that the collection celebrates the world of coffee and is part of The Macallan’s limited-edition single malt whiskies. Its creation was prompted by the brands “commitment to live in harmony with the natural environment” and introduces hybrid packaging using existing structures “fused with organic by-products to give new life to materials” such as coffee bean husks.

Whisky Maker at The Macallan Steven Bremner has created two whiskies that pair with coffee, according to the statement. They were inspired by the Ethiopian arabica bean, which the statement said was chosen as Ethiopia is said to be coffee’s birthplace and that arabica is thought to be the first coffee species to be cultivated, according to the statement.

Bremner also developed The Harmony Collection series with various “masters in their fields”. The statement said that these were Kenean Asefa Dukamo, export manager of the Dukamo family, second generation Ethiopian coffee growers; Onyx Coffee Lab co-owner and “Best Barista in the United States” Andrea Allen; and world-renowned latte artist Dhan Tamang.

These also include coffee roaster, founder of Dear Green Coffee Roasters in Glasgow and a pioneer of specialty coffee in Scotland, Lisa Lawson, and Jonathan Morris, research professor in modern history at the University of Hertfordshire and vice president of the Royal Historical Society.

Bremner was quoted by the statement as saying: “Exploring the world of coffee with our masters in the industry, who shared their knowledge, creativity, and love for their art, was both an education and an inspiration”.

He added, “There are many parallels between the approach to creating incomparable whisky and coffee. Each requires unique skills and craftsmanship to achieve depth and complexity of taste and both worlds aim to deliver an extraordinary consumption experience”.
