Action for Sight: Some eye care tips for your kids

“Action for Sight” is an annual fundraising campaign by Orbis to mark World Sight Day and to raise awareness of blindness and visual impairment with a different theme each year.

Headquartered in New York, Orbis is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation that fights blindness around the world.

This year’s World Sight Day falls on October 13 and Orbis’s local office has chosen this year’s “Action for Sight” theme as raising awareness of the importance children’s eyesight because, according to Orbis, about 80 percent of a child’s knowledge is acquired visually, and impaired sight can be a huge stumbling block to his or her learning.

While donations can help Orbis’s global sight saving missions, Orbis Macau wants to take the opportunity to help local parents and teachers maintain children’s healthy eyesight.
