The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) participated in the 52nd Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair from Friday through yesterday and is slated to join the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore’s (NATAS) General Membership Meeting on March 30, according to an MGTO statement.
MGTO, the statement noted, arranges in-person promotions in different Southeast-Asian cities with direct flights to Macau following the resumption of international flights to the city. It has also participated in previous editions of both the MATTA Fair and the NATAS Travel Fair.
The 52nd MATTA Fair is Malaysia’s major international travel fair and took place at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur from Friday through yesterday. According to the statement, MGTO showed videos promoting Macau on loop on digital screens at the exhibition throughout the three-day event.
MGTO also organised eight destination presentation sessions that introduced the latest travel tips to visitors as well as a prize-giving Q&A game, among others. The statement added that the prizes included a three-day “highlight tour + hotel vacation packages” for families of four, two-night hotel stays and buffet coupons for two, aiming to attract more Malaysian visitors to Macau to experience “tourism +”.
Meanwhile, MGTO will join NATAS’s General Membership Meeting on March 30, leveraging the association’s network to rebuild connections with Singapore’s tour operators, the statement said.
MGTO, the statement said, will update trade participants on Macau’s tourist information such as border and travel measures and means of transportation, as well as the concept of integration across “tourism+”. A Q&A session and lucky draw will also be held for participants in the meeting.
Macau welcomed 206,277 visitors from Malaysia in pre-pandemic 2019, making them the seventh largest source market at that time. MGTO will launch a marketing campaign aimed at different source markets and offline promotions for cities with direct flights to Macau, according to the statement.
