The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 6 p.m. on Friday that a 36-year-old local woman had hanged herself at her family flat in a residential building on Avenida de Horta e Costa, PJ spokesman Chong Kam Leong said in a statement that day.

According to the statement, a preliminary investigation conducted by PJ officers at the scene confirmed that the victim surnamed Lei committed suicide by hanging herself from a metal support in her bedroom’s walk-in wardrobe in the flat.

The victim’s sister told the police that she had not seen Lei for almost the whole of Friday, adding that at 5:30 p.m. on that day she discovered that the victim had hanged herself in the walk-in wardrobe, so she immediately called the police, the statement said.

The statement pointed out that no suicide note was found at the scene.

A preliminary examination of the body confirmed that the victim’s injuries were consistent with those caused by hanging, and no suspected criminal injuries were found, the statement said, adding that the exact cause of the death has yet to be determined by forensic examination.

The case has been listed as dead-body found, according to the statement.
