Contemporary mainland Chinese artist Lu Pingyuan is exhibiting his works in his first solo exhibition in Macau, “Untitled (Artist)”, at the Humarish Club gallery in Lisboeta Macau’s H853 Fun Factory.

According to a statement from the gallery, the exhibition is presented in conjunction with the MadeIn Gallery from Shanghai. It contains a series of paintings, drawings and sculptures from Lu’s recent exhibitions and research. “Look! I’m Picasso!” and “Nature Noir” are among the series of works exhibited.

The statement noted that for the exhibition, Lu has created “story” characters that are derived from his inspirations “that subtly respond to personal narratives interweaved with art history”, adding that this opens a conceptual window of surrealism that leads viewers to reflect on the “history of art and the origin of experience”.

Born in 1984 in Zhejiang province, Lu lives and works in Shanghai. The statement pointed out that his work involves various forms of media such as texts and paintings, and he has also focused on writing stories as a practice and medium to create art. His works have been exhibited in national and international museums and biennales.

Lu has also had several solo exhibitions such as “One Night at a Gallery” in 2022 and; “HOME ALONe” in Shanghai 2017. He has also participated in several group exhibitions.

The exhibition runs until April 13. The gallery is open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Admission is free. More details can be found at https://www.humarish.com/.
