The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) said in a statement on Monday that its recent “MPU Careers Day 2023” event involving over 120 companies from Macau and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) provided more than 3,000 job vacancies and internship opportunities for students.
According to the statement, last Tuesday’s job fair included career talks, a corporate visit, English résumé workshops and English mock interviews. A “more diverse range of industries” were also featured at the event such as the public sector, hotel and tourism, information technology and financial technology, education, and telecommunications, the statement noted.
There were also 20 career talks that covered topics such as youth entrepreneurship and employment information in the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, internships in the GBA, the role of the China-Portuguese speaking countries business platform, and risk and control services.
The statement added that during the event’s on-campus opening ceremony, MPU Rector Im Sio Kei said in his speech that the university has been committed to promoting students’ careers and entrepreneurship in the GBA through close collaboration with enterprises, government entities and human resources agencies in the 11-city region.
Im noted that this has created a “hands-on learning” education model to enhance students’ professionalism and help them develop their career paths through innovation and entrepreneurship.
He also advised graduating students to “make a good career plan, continuously improve their competitiveness, [and] actively seize the significant opportunities” brought by the development of the GBA. He also encouraged students to apply what they learnt, play to their strengths, and contribute to the nation and Macau.
