A male Vietnamese non-resident worker (NRW) was arrested on Monday for selling ice in Zape, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lou Chan Fai said at a special press conference yesterday.

The 29-year-old surnamed Dau told the police that he works as a chef.

According to Lou, the Judiciary Police recently received a tip-off about a Vietnamese man who, for three months, was selling drugs to regular customers at night entertainment venues in Nape. Following an investigation, the police identified the suspect and put his residence in the Centro Internacional de Macau housing block under surveillance on Monday afternoon.

Later that day, the police intercepted the suspect in the neighbourhood and found a packet containing 0.45 grammes of crystal methamphetamine (ice) on him. Subsequently, the police found a total of 19 small packets containing a total of 13.7 grammes of ice in his flat, along with drug-taking paraphernalia. The street value of the 14.15 grammes of ice is estimated to be around 40,000 patacas.

Under questioning, Dau said he had been selling ice for three months but refused to reveal where he had bought it. Dau tested positive for drugs.

Dau was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday, facing drug selling and taking charges, according to Lou.

Evidence seized from the suspect such as packets of ice, drug-taking paraphernalia and a smartphone are displayed during yesterday’s special press conference at the pressroom of the Judiciary Police (PJ) headquarters in Zape.
